Love Poems
Express your Love

Love and Be Loved

Love is the most powerful emotion in the universe. It is the eternal spring that quenches a thirsty heart. Love has broken many a heart, but love can also mend it again.

A love poem  is an expression  of your love. Give the one you love a gift of words said in a rhythmic way. Wrap a love poem in a tiny parcel and seal with a kiss.

A Red, Red Rose

Oh my luve is like a red, red rose,
That's newly sprung in June;
Oh my luve's like the melodie,
That's sweetly play’d in tune.

As fair art thou, my bonie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry:

Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi' the sun;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o' life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only luve!
And fare thee weel a while!
And I will come again, my luve,
Tho' it ware ten thousand mile!

Dad, My Super Hero
Of all the Super Hero’s
Who ever lived on earth,
There’s none who could live up to you
Or ever match your worth.

To me you are the greatest,
Simply an extra Special Man.
I’m full of admiration,
I’m your very biggest fan.

I know sometimes I’ve let you down
And caused you deep concern.
I guess it’s part of growing up,
The lessons we must learn.

But your support was constant,
Through the heartache and the tears.
You took my hand and guided me
And soothed away my fears.

So now I want to thank you,
You’re the best I could have had.
That’s why you mean the world to me

And why I Love You Dad.

Dad's My Guy

I hear the children call him pop,
And though his hair is thin on top,
A glimpse of love light in his eyes,
Still stirs my heart with sweet surprise.

Although his face is growing lined,
The creases round his mouth are kind,
There still the magic in his smile,
That always could my cares beguile.

I know he’s grown a trifle stout –
I had to let a few seams out!
But I can find within his arms,
A haven from the world’s alarms.

The family sees just mum and dad,
Our “getting on” to them is sad,
But passing days brings us no rue,
While dad is still my lover true.

No matter how the years nay pass,
I’ll always be his looking glass,
And in his eyes, I’ll always see,

The gay young blade he used to be.

Dreams

When I was just a little girl
I use to sit and dream.
And wish for Oh so many things,
Like being a beautiful Queen.

I’d live in a great big castle.
And sit upon a throne
I’d have servants all around me,
And wear a Golden Crown.

Or I’d be like Cinderella,
And go off to the ball,
And meet a handsome Prince Charming,
Who would show me off to all.

Then I wished I could marry a Millionaire,
Who would buy me everything.
A Mansion, A shiny car,
And a great big Diamond Ring.

When I grew up I realised
My dreams could not come true.
Then One day unexpectedly
I suddenly met you.

You weren’t exactly Handsome,
You didn’t sweep me off my feet.
But you were my Prince Charming,
So thoughtful, Kind and Sweet.

And when you took me dancing
We’d really have a Ball.
And you’d call me your Cinderella,
And show me off to all.

You could never be a Millionaire,
Or buy me a big Diamond Ring.
But you gave me a little band of Gold,
And that meant everything.

Now we don’t live in a Mansion,
And my old car doesn’t gleam.
But our small home is a Castle,
And you treat me like a Queen.

They say if you wish hard enough,
Your dreams will all come true.
And mine came reality
When I fell in Love with You.

Emotions

When someone loves a person, as much I love you,
Their emotions become entangled with all you say and do.
I feel like I’m on a sailing ship a drifting on calm seas,
With beauty all around me and the touch of a gentle breeze.
I drift along so calmly, with the sun upon my face,
My emotions contented with this calm and gentle place.

But the waters are unpredictable; this beauty I know won’t last,
The glassy sea will change no doubt, like many times that’s past.
The seas become unsettled and the ship sways to and fro,
And I feel the tension rising as the distant waters grow.

You send grey clouds overhead to blanket blue skies above,
And thus this’ll be a testing of my endurance and my love.
The storm is now upon me, no mercy does it show,
As it lashes at my heart strings and strikes a cruel blow.

I don’t believe you realise how much this causes pain,
For the tears that I am crying are hidden by the rain.
I try to sail away from you, but my love just holds me fast,
‘Cause the wroth of this troubled sea, I hope will never last.

The storm has now passed over; there is calmness once again,
But grey clouds still linger and my heart still feels the pain.
My love allows the sun to shine; I feel warmth within my heart,
And I hope you can share this love, so we will never part.
Once again I drift along with the sun upon my face -
My emotions again content with this calm and gentle place.

Everlasting Love
For every time you’ve listened
And for every caring thought.
For loving me just as I am –
Despite what I’m not.
For giving your opinions
And for never being judged.
For every vote of confidence
And every gentle nudge.
For all the many generous ways –
A soul mate and a friend.
So in return I give to you
My Love that’ll never end.

Grieving

There’s no way of comforting your grieving heart,
There’s no way of explaining why it’s been torn apart.
The pain is beyond expression; your eyes grow dim with tears
And your soul is tormented with the doubts and the fears.
The place your at is dark and lonely, an eternal night,
And you feel your never reach the comfort of the light.

But time has a way of easing your pain and your sorrow,
Helping you reach the light and finding a brighter tomorrow.
The journey won’t be easy, there’ll be times you doubt and fear,
Don’t look back at a darkened past, look forward to a light that’s clear.
You won’t walk this path alone; I’ll be with you all the way,
To guide and give you strength til we reach that sunny day.

His Little Flower

I have a friend whose husband
Doesn’t call her by her name.
He simply says, “My little flower”,
Or something near the same.

Now that was fine some years ago,
When she was still a bride,
But now she started drooping,
(The sort of flower you’d hide).

The petals of his flower once
Were colourful and bright,
But now she looks quite faded
If her makeup isn’t right.

She’s getting wrinkles, going grey,
And showing signs of spread-
She’s not the flower that he first chose
To decorate his bed.

But love is blind, the poets say,
And now I know they’re right-
I saw the way he smiles and said,
“My little flower”, tonight.

If Only

If only I could feel your pain
And heal your broken heart again.
If only I could sooth your tears
And ease your doubts and your fears.
If only I could relieve your sorrow
And give to you a brighter tomorrow.
If only I could take your hand
I’d lead you to a better land.
If only I could mend your heart,
I’d put it right from the very start.
If I could lay these emotions to rest-
I’ll give what it takes and try my best.
For as long as you are in despair,
I’ll stay beside you, I’ll always be there.

It’s Nice to Have a Dad Around the House

DADS are special people
No home should be without,
For every family would agree
They’re ‘SO NICE TO HAVE ABOUT’–
They are a happy mixture
Of a ‘SMALL BOY’ and a ‘MAN’
And they are very necessary
In every ‘FAMILY PLAN’–
Sometimes they’re most demanding
And stern, and firm and tough
But underneath they’re ‘soft as silk’
For this is just a ‘BLUFF’–
But in any kind of trouble
Dad reaches out his hand,
And you can always count on him
To help and understand–
And while we do not praise Dad
As often as we should,
It’s only fair to emphasise
His importance and his worth–
For if there were no loving Dads
This would be a ‘LOVELESS EARTH!’

Little Things Mean a Lot

Blow me a kiss from across the room
Say I look nice when I'm not
Touch my hair as you pass my chair
Little things mean a lot
Give me your arm as we cross the street
Call me at six on the dot
A line a day when you're far away
Little things mean a lot

Don't have to buy me diamonds or pearls
 Champagne, sables, and such
I never cared much for diamonds and pearls
'cause honestly, honey, they just cost money

Give me a hand when I've lost the way
Give me your shoulder to cry on
Whether the day is bright or gray
Give me your heart to rely on
Send me the warmth of a secret smile
To show me you haven't forgot
For now and forever, that's always and ever
Honey, little things mean a lot.

Maternal Love

There are many verses written
About love that’s running wild;
Is there any love more constant
Than a Mother’s for her child?

Have you ever seen the equal
If the softness, or the charms
Of a Mother looking downward
At the baby in her arms?

Are there any eyes as gentle
Is there any voice so meek?
Are the fingers just as steady
As the ones at baby’s cheek?

And her love is never waning
Though the child begins to grow,
For as the years pass it gets stronger
Giving off a brighter glow.

Though buffeted and knock about
In a world that’s torn apart,
You will always find a shelter
In the haven of her heart.

Should I wander many pathways
Or cross the millionth sea,
I am grateful for the woman
Who was found to mother me.

Mum, My Best Friend

 You’ll always be important mum,
Don’t ever doubt your worth,
To me you’re irreplaceable,
The dearest mum on earth.

Just knowing I can talk to you,
If life should cause distress,
Brings comfort to me day by day,
Far more than you can guess.

Your special love’s beyond compare,
It has been from the start,
When first you picked me up,
And held me to your heart.

When times were bad, you always lent
A sympathetic ear,
Always there to help and care
And wipe away a tear.

A mother’s love is constant
From beginning to the end,
And nowhere in the whole wide world,
Will I find a better friend.

My Husband
Oh honey, if we’d been the first
Eternity would not be cursed;
I’d cherish you till parting days,
Daily to God I’d give my praise.

If only we’d been natures plan
And Adam not the first of Man
I’d not you tempt, with fruit unknown
For all mankind to weep and moan.

My love for you cannot be measured,
More than add your heart is treasured;
A merry life I wish for thee,
Now…and through eternity.

Man among men, my better half;
When e’er I weep, you make me laugh,
When I am troubled…can’t find the way,
Your love assures me I must pray.

Men worthy of God are far and few,
How blessed I am he gave me you.

When I am but mere dust again,
Let not these words be wrote in vein,
But etch them deep so all can see,
That I love you…and you love me.

My Love In Return, Sister

There are so many reasons
To send this love to you,
For always being there for me
And all the things you do.
To thank you for your heart of gold
And understanding way,
To thank you for your thoughtfulness
You bring to every day.
Dear Sister there are many things
To truly thank you for,
Like being someone special
Who I treasure and adore.
You bring such joy and happiness
Each day the whole year through,
And you are loved so very much
For simply being you.

My Word You Do Look Nice

I’ve had this frock for six long years…
Oh Well! Perhaps not quite that,
And in the meantime I have changed
From medium to fat.
I gaze at my reflection and I’m feeling rather blue
Oh dear! If I could just afford to purchase something new.
His Lordship, putting on his tie,
Looks my way once or twice,
Then whistles…”Darling is that new?
My word you do look nice.

Four years ago I bought this hat
The sweetest shade of blue.
I’ve worn it to seven weddings
And a christening or two.
I try to straighten out the brim
And perk a drooping rose,
Grow more conscious of the ladder
In my pair of hose
His Lordship, putting on his socks,
Spares me a glance or two,
Then suddenly he come to life;
“Hi darling...is that new?”

I’ve come to this conclusion,
And it wasn’t hard to find,
As long as we dress quietly
Men-folk are mostly blind,
But when the latest hemline
On a smart young thing goes pass….
They blink their eyes and turn their heads
And come to life at last.

Only In Dreams

Only in dreams are you near me,
Only when stars are a shine,
Can I look on your face while I worship
And know once again you are mine.

In the day time I fight with your memory,
And force my mind from the pain,
We are parted for long times, my darling
And I ache to be with you again.

And at night with my head on my pillow,
I walk paths of the moon’s golden beams,
And am with you till dawn breaks my slumber
Alone in the garden of dreams.

Our Love Is So Natural

Our love is so natural,
the wild animals move
gentle and light on
the shores of our love.

My eyes rest upon you,
to me your eyes turn,
as bees go to honey,
as fire to fire will burn.

Birds and beast are at home,
and star lives in tree
when we are together
as we should be.

But silently my heart falls
when you are away,
I can hear the world breathing
where he hides from our day.

My heart crouches under,
silent and still,
and the avalanche gathers
above the green hill.

Our love is so natural-
I cannot but fear,
I would reach out and touch you.
Why are you not here?

She Asked Me Why I Loved Her

If questioning would make us wise
No eyes would ever gaze in eyes;
If all our tale were told in speech
No mouths would wander each to each.

Were spirits free from mortal mesh
And love not bound in hearts of flesh
No aching breasts would yearn to meet
And find their ecstasy complete.

For who is there that lives and knows
The secret powers by which he grows?
Were knowledge all, what were our need
To thrill and faint and sweetly bleed?

Then seek not, sweet, the "If" and "Why"
I love you now until I die.
For I must love because I live
And life in me is what you give.

Show Her You Care

A mother is a person,
Quite apart from all the rest,
She gives her never ending love,
She gives her very best.
She helps you, guides you, comforts you,
Whenever you feel blue,
She’s always there to lend a hand,
In everything you do.
She listens to your problems,
And all your joys she shares,
And any time you need a friend,
You’ll find she’s always there.
So don’t take her for granted,
Let her know how much you care,
‘Cause you’ll never know her value,
Till you see her empty chair.

Song

How sweet I roam’d from field to field
And tasted all the summer’s pride,
‘Til I the prince of love beheld
Who I the sunny beams did fly.

He shew’d me lilies for my hair,
And blushing roses for my brow;
He led me through his garden fair,
Where all the golden pleasures grow.

With sweet May dews my wings were wet,
And Phoebus fir’d may vocal rage;
He caught me in his silken net,
And shut me in his golden cage.

He loves to sit and hear me sing,
Then, laughing, sports and plays with me;
Then stretches out my golden wing,
And mocks my loss of liberty.

The Meeting Of The Waters

There is not in the wide world a valley so sweet,
As that vale in whose bosom the bright waters meet;
Oh! The last rays of feeling and life must depart
Ere the bloom of that valley shall fade from my heart.

Yet it was not that Nature had shed o’er the scene
Her purest of crystal and brightest of greens;
‘Twas not her soft music of streamlet or hills,
Oh! no - it was something more exquisite still.

‘Twas that friends, the beloved of my bosom, were near,
Who made every dear scene of enchantment more dear,
And who felt how the best charms of Nature improve,
When we see them reflected from looks that we love

Sweet vale of Avoca! How calm could I rest
In thy bosom of shade, with the friend I love best,
Where the storms that we feel in this cold world should cease,
And our hearts, like thy waters, be mingled in peace.

Thomas Moore

'Tis The Last Rose Of Summer

‘Tis the last rose of summer,
Left blooming alone;
All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone;
No flower of her kindred,
No rose-bud is nigh,
To reflect back her blushes,
Or give sigh for sigh!

I’ll not leave thee, thou lone one!
To pine on the stem;
Since the lovely are sleeping,
Go, sleep thou with them,
Thus kindly I scatter
Thy leaves o’er the bed,
Where thy mates of the garden
Lie scentless and dead.

So soon may I follow,
When friendship decay,
And from Love’s shining circle
The gems drop away!
When true hearts lie wither’d,
And fond ones are flown,
Oh! who would inhabit
This bleak world alone?

Woman’s Song

O move in me my darling,
for now the sun must rise;
the sun that will draw open
the lids upon your eyes.

O wake in me, my darling,
The knife of day is bright
to cut the thread that binds you
within the flesh of night.

Today I lose and find you
whom yet my blood would keep-
would weave and sing around you
the spells and songs of sleep.

None but I shall know you
as none but I have know;
yet there’s a death and a maiden
who wait for you alone;

So move in me, my darling,
whose debt I cannot pay.
Pain and the dark must claim you,
and passion and the day.
